Our Newcastle Wainscot Sill is a complementary finishing product that provides an attractive touch to any natural stone renovation project. Newcastle sandstone is an affordable alternative to wood or metal trims; this wainscot sill is 2" thick with a cut top and bottom and a flamed front edge. Flaming is a finishing process that super-heats a cut stone face to produce a natural textured look. Our Newcastle sills are available in 3", 4", 6" & 8" widths and 14" - 48" lengths, custom widths up to 24” are available upon request.
The wainscot sill provides both esthetic and function to your home facade. On exterior elevations, wainscot sills are most commonly used as a transitional element between different finishing materials. For example, applied between stone veneer and wood or vinyl siding on exterior walls. Newcastle Wainscot Sills serve as a strong, horizontal separation line that allows for harmony across the elevation. Functionally, the wainscot sill provides a drip edge to prevent the buildup of water from rain or snow in between the intersection of exterior finishing materials.
Natural stone is an extremely durable building material, which provides a low maintenance option for exterior finishes. Newcastle wainscot sills will not fade or warp over time, which are common problems with traditional wood trims.
This naturally attractive product complements many types of thinstone veneer or full bed stone treatments, and adds polish and sophistication wherever finishing details are required. Depending on the design project, customized treatments may be requested for unique features. Be sure to ask about specific cuts, irregular sizes, additional flaming and other custom finishing options.
The linear transition created by a clean cut piece of natural stone creates a defined separation of building materials. Stone is organically beautiful and has many natural rough edges – that's part of its charm. But adding complementary pieces such as wainscot sills, lends a visually satisfying final touch to stone treatments on exterior walls.
