K2 Stone's Solid Stone Post Caps are designed to provide a protective top surface for any type of stone post. They're made from a solid piece of stone and typically overhang the post slightly to provide a drip edge for water to flow off, preventing it from permeating into the post structure and compromising its integrity. Post Caps are available in a range of profiles for mixing and matching with stone veneer products such as our Ocean Pearl series. Ocean Pearl slate has a unique geology that can only be found on Vancouver Island. Its colour palette of blues and greys, with occasional white quartz veins, is versatile, a good match for other building materials such as concrete, steel and wood. Ocean Pearl Flamed Top Post Caps are made from solid slate with a flamed top, cut bottom and flamed sides. Flaming is a process that super-heats a cut stone face to produce a natural textured look. These attractive finishing post caps are available in any size combination up to 24" x 24"and are a minimum of 2" thick.
Post caps can finish off any natural stone feature that includes posts. These are most commonly seen around the entrance to the home on columns supporting a front door overhang, verandah or porch. The bottom of the column may have a stone treatment that transitions to wood or some other material. As these architectural features are designed to deflect the elements it becomes obvious why post caps are essential. Elsewhere around the home, outdoor rooms may have similar style columns supporting a pergola or patio roof. Or posts may be used to punctuate a low retaining wall around a pool or yard.
